イマーシブシアターとは？
イマーシブシアターとは、観客が固定された座席に座って鑑賞する従来の舞台鑑賞ではなく、観客自ら会場内を動き、目の前で演者のパフォーマンスを観ながら、物語の一部として作品に参加する没入型エンターテインメント。2000 年代のロンドンにて誕生した新しい演劇手法です。綿密な空間設計や五感を刺激する演出を通じ、観客を物語世界に深く没入させることを特徴とします。
観客の行動ルールは作品によって異なり、海外では、廃墟のホテルを「自由に動き回りながら鑑賞」するSleep No Moreや、アリスの精神世界を出演者に「誘導されながら鑑賞する」Then She Fellが有名です。
また、NEXTFLIX「Strangerthings」のプロモーションイベントや、ディズニーワールドにて、スターウォーズ世界に没入する施設がオープンし、世界中で話題を呼んでいます。

What Is Immersive Theater?
Immersive theatre is a form of performance in which audiences do not watch from fixed seats. Instead, they move through the space, encounter performers up close, and participate in the story as if they are part of the world. Born in London in the 2000s, this new theatrical form uses detailed spatial design and multisensory elements to fully draw audiences into the narrative.
Audience rules vary by production. Internationally, well-known examples include Sleep No More, where audiences freely wander through a dilapidated hotel, and Then She Fell, where participants are guided through the psychological world of Alice.
Immersive experiences have also gained mainstream popularity worldwide—such as Netflix’s Stranger Things promotional events and the Star Wars immersive attraction at Disney World.
